A Message from the Team

Welcome to our Fall newsletter. We hope you and your family enjoyed some holiday time over the summer.

It is with mixed emotions the Team at Arbutus Financial says goodbye and good luck to Bart Aldrich as he embarks on his new career as a Notary Public. After seven years with our firm, we will miss his support, good humour, and expertise but we wish him all the best as he enters a new phase in his personal and professional development.

We would like to celebrate the success of Bruce McRae, who celebrates his 50th year in the business of providing financial solutions for Canadians. Congratulations Bruce on your commitment to the industry and clientele!

In this newsletter, you will find a number of interesting articles.

What many don’t realize, however, is that cabins have increased significantly in value, and 50 per cent of this increase could be taxable at death. There are several strategies you can use to help ensure a tax-effective transfer of the family cabin to your heirs. Learn More »

Finally, here is an interesting tidbit about Elder Planning: The New 40/70 Rule = Once you reach 40 it is likely your parents are 70. This is the time to discuss/review your parents plans for long term care or to share that information with your children. We can help.
