Financial Directions
by Bart Aldrich

For many years, our clients have looked to Arbutus Financial Services Ltd. / Dundee Private Investors Inc. to provide them with guidance and advice regarding a particular element of their financial planning. For some that was insurance planning, and for others it was investment planning for their RRSP’s. Today, we are finding this is not enough, especially with respect to planning for retirement. While many of us have recognized the need to save as much as possible for that time in the future when we may want to stop working, as the time for “retirement” gets closer, most of us start to become more focused about what retirement will have in store for us. We have introduced some new resources to assist you, our clients, to achieve your goals for Financial Independence in a process we call Financial Directions.

Consider this: In the grand scheme of things, money is not that important. It’s significant only to the extent that it allows you to enjoy what is important to you. And not worrying about your finances is critical to having a life that excites you, nurtures those you love, and fulfills your highest aspirations.

Every great accomplishment has a sound strategy – a plan – behind it, and creating the financial future you desire is no different. Spontaneity definitely spices up your life, but having no plan is a recipe for mediocrity. What if the Egyptians had winged it when building the pyramids? Or if the astronauts had known only generally where they were headed? Great feats are achieved as a result of people knowing what they want and why!

What would your life be like if you had a complete financial, investment and estate plan based on what was truly important to you, and where all of your investments and insurance strategies were working in harmony to achieve your goals? This would be in stark contrast to what most people have. Most wind up buying a little insurance here, a few stocks and mutual funds there, and maybe a Will they set up a number of years ago. But they have no overall plan in place.

A plan like this can answer some of the questions that may be important to you, such as:

  • What does my current financial picture look like?
  • What will my retirement income look like?
  • Will that be enough?
  • How will taxes affect what I want to leave my family?
  • Will I have enough to leave some to charity?
  • What will happen to my business when I’m no longer able to look after it?

What we work to achieve, is a complete plan that’s easy to implement, leading you into an inspiring financial future with confidence, which ultimately leads to reduced financial worry and greater peace of mind. In other words, Financial Independence.

If you are interested in getting answers to these questions, and any others you may have about your financial future, call us to arrange an appointment to experience the process for yourself. We promise you’ll find it extremely valuable and rewarding.
