Arbutus Financial Services Limited - Cultivating Relationships for your Success
WINTER 2012

A MESSAGE from the Team

Dear [fname],

Welcome to our Winter/ Spring Newsletter. In this issue we are introducing three interesting topics. Should You Dodge Probate? gives us a better understanding of what probate is and whether it can be avoided or should be avoided. In Changes to the Canada Pension Plan, we outline the new changes that came into effect January 1, 2012. Finally, in Zoomer Issues, we provide important tips on avoiding online fraud and security.

The economic environment globally has not been kind to us over 2011. Significant sovereign debt issues continue to face a number of countries in Europe. Although the US economy is showing some positive signs of improving, there remains a long way to go. We continue to believe a well-diversified investment portfolio is an essential component of your financial plan.

Speaking of financial planning, now is the time to reflect on your financial goals and objectives and the resources available to you. As we cannot control the direction of investment markets over the short-term, we should focus on what we can control. Depending on your personal circumstances, key financial planning strategies can make all the difference. Some examples include tax and estate planning, debt management, TFSA’s, RESPs and reviewing your insurance.

At Arbutus Financial, we continue to strengthen our team, to ensure we are providing you with the very best advice and financial vehicles to meet your financial and life goals. Van Chen has recently joined our Vancouver office. Van comes from one of the major Canadian banks, where he benefitted from diverse experience in a number financial planning roles. Van is passionate about investment planning, spending his work day (and sometimes night) analyzing various markets to determine the very best investment strategies for those saving for the future, or drawing a retirement income.

We thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your family. We understand and appreciate the level of trust you've placed in us to help protect you and your family's financial security and success.
